After a successful career in banking and real estate, Mr A.G.Moufarrige decided to direct his entrepreneurial skills into his own venture.

As with any new business, he needed an office, receptionist and secretarial support. He quickly realized that these costs were eating into his profits and that he was unable to keep the staff busy 100% of the time. He decided to investigate sharing space, a receptionist and a secretary - sharing the costs to reduce his overheads.

Mr A.G.Moufarrige first looked into shared space in Sydney back in 1976, but discovered that none existed.

This experience provided the seeds of the smart Servcorp business model.

Mr Moufarrige opened 16 offices, a quarter of a floor in the MLC Centre, Sydney, in 1978.

Funds were limited, so the initial construction only comprised of two offices, a receptionist/secretarial area and a single boardroom.

With a piece of chalk in hand, enthusiasm, passion and a clear vision of his concept of "shared office accommodation," Mr Moufarrige started to create Servcorp. He took the chalk and drew the surrounding offices on the carpet. As soon as he sold one office, he began building the next one. Within a year Servcorp occupied two floors in the MLC Centre and had one floor in Melbourne.

The concept was simple and he explained it wherever he went – all he required to explain this was the back of an envelope! It was that simple!
